A little about Shaniko

  • Front porch of a brick building with arched windows and a cafe sign, decorated with flower pots and an American flag in a flower bed.

    Shaniko Hotel

The Shaniko Hotel is a town staple. Built in 1897, it has recently reopened as a functioning hotel. Bring some hootin’, hollerin, and singin’ to the hotel steps or into the hotel saloon.

  • A wooden deck with a picnic table, string lights, and a wagon wheel in a rural setting with cloudy sky in the background.

    Shaniko Gas Station

Stop in to fuel up, or to hang on the back deck under the stars late into the evening.

  • Empty room with wooden floors, white benches along the sides, a door open to outside, and two windows with sheer curtains, showing an outdoor scene with water and trees.

    Shaniko Chapel

Built in the late 1800’s, ths building was orignally a schoolhouse and now serves as a chapel and music space. We’re currently fundraising to revitialize this historic space.

  • Red and white covered wagon with large wheels parked in a dry, open field under a cloudy sky.

    The Edge of Town

Within the town, classic horse-drawn stagecoaches sit, telling the stories of the folks they carried.

  • A man wearing a cowboy hat is sitting on a folding chair on an outdoor wooden stage, playing an acoustic guitar and singing into a microphone. There are musical equipment and a small amplifier around him. The stage has a yellow patterned rug, and a tree with green leaves is visible in the background.

    Porch of The Ravensnest

The Ravensnest is a local shop selling a collection of cowboy gems. Cowboy hats, antiques, jewelry, trinkets and the like. We’ll be holding our open mic on this stage :)

  • Three people sitting near a small bonfire at dusk, with a wooden wagon and a building labeled 'SH ANIKO' in the background.

    Shaniko Barn

Shaniko was the sheep capital of the world in the early 1900’s. The iconic Shaniko Barn is a memory of the economic boom that swept through the town at the beginning of the century.

Shaniko Schoolhouse

Be sure to take a short walk to visit the Shaniko Schoolhouse, on the “other” side of HWY 97 ~
